BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BOARD AND ITS ACTIVITIES

The Kano State Scholarships Board, as an autonomous body, was created in 1968 as a Division under the State Ministry of Education Kano and now one of the Parastatal beneath the Ministry for Higher Education, charged with the responsibilities of awarding scholarships and improving the welfare of the State Sponsored Students.

FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD

Some of the Functions include:

• Conduct of Sponsorship Interview in respect of all the eligible Students of Kano State Origin studying in Tertiary and Universities in Nigeria.
• Formal recommendation of suitable qualified applicants for Overseas Training to His Excellency.
• Payment of Internal Student Maintenance and Other Allowances.
• Processing and making Remittance to Sponsored Students on Training Abroad and Rendering Guidance and Counseling Services to students amongst others.

PROGRAME:

The Board has Five (5) Categories of Scholarship Programmes stated below:

1. The Foreign Scholarship
2. The Regular Internal Scholarship Programme
3. The Private Universities Scholarship Programme
4. The Nigerian Law Schools Scholarship
5. Other Professional Institutions like College of Aviation Technology Zaria, Informatics Institute Kazaure, Maritime Academy Oron and Nigerian Air Force Training Institute, Kaduna.
